Attacked the wrong guy

Posted by – November 29, 2008 – Share on Facebook

Martin Eakes is an entrepreneurial business-friendly exec; a model micro-investor and pretty globally known. I think the four men who attacked and beat him picked the wrong guy [not that there is a "right" guy to attack for no reason]. Glad to hear he’s expected to make a full recovery. Thanks to his Greensboro brother Marshall for the link and best wishes to our local bud Patrick and the entire Eakes family.

N&O: Eakes has been a vocal opponent of predatory lenders in the state, testifies frequently in front of Congress and was The News & Observer’s 2005 Tar Heel of the Year.

Thats’ awful. I do hope that he has a speedy and full recovery.

  2. Jeffrey Sykes says:

That is truly awful, as Roch said. I’ve read nothing but good stuff about him and it’s all the worse when a guy who has given so much of himself to others is so brutally attacked for no real reason. I hope he recovers quickly.

  3. Thanks for the post, Sue. If anything, the N&O story sanitized how bad the attack really was. I cannot remember the last time I have been so full of sadness and anger in equal parts.

  4. Marshall Eakes says:

I want to get these guys off the street. Rage, anger and concern for the next victim are on my mind.
    Thanks for posting and concern.
