We finally got my test blog updated to WordPress 2.5 and I was able to play with it for a while. All seems well. Things to note:
- Â Be sure you have a copy of your Akismet key. The upgrade turns it off and to turn it on, you need your key or your WordPress.com login. If we did that for you, be sure to make a copy of your key (it’s in plugins).
- Read your personal email that we’re going to send soon asking if you want to upgrade to 2.5. It’ll tell you what things you have to do to get ready. That includes turning off all your plugins. All of them. A few are not compatible with WordPress 2.5 and it’s up to you to find new ones or clear out the flotsam.
- If you aren’t used to using the Visual Editor, you will probably want to learn how to do that. There are built-in tools for adding video, audio and all sorts of media. (insert approving nod)
- There are some new screens and new ways of doing things. Look here for a summary.
- Some themes have issues with 2.5 so be sure you’re ready to fidget with your theme if it’s old.
Other than that, WordPress 2.5 looks like a winner.
