You can’t buy buzz

Jeff Jarvis unhearts PayPerPost [disclaimer: PayPerPost was the breakfast sponsor for ConvergeSouth but asked for nothing in return except handing out materials and posting their banner]. Ted Murphy is president of the PayPerPost company. He asked, [not a direct quote] [W]hat is the difference between PayPerPost advertising (e.g. a commercial) on a Web site and “Amanda Congdon making commercials on her old or new vlog? A participant at Jarvis’s conference said Rocketboom is clearly a show and a commercial makes sense in that context; the relationship is clearer. Jarvis: “Simply put, the rule is that no one can buy my voice and with it my credibility.”

I am not a payperposter and disclaim whenever I believe a conflict exists. But surely there is a way to provide “commercials” in blog and maintain one’s integrity. Fine line, that is.
