Lindsey Tree / Lindsey Bush

Kid #2's hairFathers have their own language. When Kid #2 was little, she had lots of little girl friends and often, like most parents, we drove them places and eventually home. Two little girls, both named Lindsey, became “Lindsey Tree” (Lindsey whose driveway he pulled into by the big tree) and “Lindsey Bush” (Lindsey who lived on Rollingwood and the driveway was near the big bush). When you asked Dad to drive them home, you said, “Take ‘Lindsey Tree’ home,” or “Give Lindsey Bush a ride home.” That was our own personal language and it worked just fine.

Today, Lindsey Bush is getting married to Bobby, the love of her life, and on her parents’ anniversary. Lauren and Lindsey have been friends for more than half their lives. They got their Gold Awards from Girl Scouts together (Greensboro Children’s Museum Web Site — first Girl Scouts Web-based project ever and the site was chosen by Microsoft as “Site of the Month,” but I’m not proud or anything)

Kid #2 had her nails and toenails done yesterday (so did the other 5 bridesmaids; that was our gift) and today was hair-putting-up morning, followed by wedding at 4 at Christ United Methodist, where they had many Girl Scout things. This time they were told that if either the bride or groom has any alcohol in the church prior to the wedding, they can’t get married. (I like dogma-based religions.) Last time they were there, they had punch and cookies and got pins and badges. Time flies. More photos at 11.

Update: It’s 5:00 -ish and we’re home from the wedding waiting to go to the reception. What a beautiful church! (Needs a slightly improved mike system, but still gets a “wow” for organ, speakers, size and beauty.) Everything was lovely; I cried. 33% of the bridesmaids were Jewish. We smiled a lot.

Update2:Lauren and JillIt’s 9 pm-ish and we’re home after a lovely time. Lauren was a beautiful bridesmaid, along with her good friend, Jill. Click the thumbnail for a larger photo.

It was a little warm at the Embassy Suites and the day a little muggy, but the sunshine was beautiful and so were the girls. We were talking about Christian and Jewish ways of praying, but that’s another post.

I did have a little camera trouble, ran out of battery and the contrast was bad so my bride pictures are on a disposable.

I’m glad I got this picture.
