@mike Maybe if the city passed incentives to ride the bus like a congestion charge in downtown, you'd increase ridership while creating funds to improve public transportation and lower the tax burden?

I believe we can do better for people who ride the bus and to attract more ridership if we, at least, made bus stops noticeable and comfortable (a roof, sides, a seat) for people. If they're covered, they don't have be dug out. Thunderstorms are unpredictable. Am just suggesting we treat bus riders, many of whom cannot afford cars, a little more kindly.

We can debate the cost of everything and the cycle that comes from it and do nothing, which it seems, Greensboro likes to do.

It all sounds nice but let's remember busses drive around all day long with mostly empty seats. Taxpayers fund an expensive bus transportation system that most taxpayers never use. You mentioned mounds of packed slush and snow. Who would dig out these shelters? How much more money should taxpayers spend? Why not shelters for school busses too? And seat belts for busses? And restrooms? Umbrellas are functional and affordable.
